Hey everyone! I hope you had an amazing holiday season! Can you believe 2025 is just around the corner? Time is flying, and honestly, a couple of days off wasn’t nearly enough for me (haha). But hey, I fully embraced the lazy vibes, spent time with family, and caught up with my bestie, Mel—which was the best. I hope your holidays were just as wonderful, no matter where you were or who you celebrated with!
I had grand plans for an "Ames' Bucket List of Movies Week" (if ...

Nothing like an Ebenezer Scrooge story to warm my heart LOL!
This one was a lot of fun! I still think I prefer Groundhog Day! But can’t wait to rewatch this and pick up more of the jokes! I love how all Frank’s references where from TV and Movies!
I love these darker Christmas movies! Really warms my Grinch heart!

First up from the Poll winners is An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)
************Light Spoilers Below*******************
What an introduction to a character! I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a movie—you learn so much about Z. Mayo so quickly. What a way to grow up. Yikes. After sleeping on this movie and thinking about it more, I still feel the same way I mentioned in the outro, though I'm unsure where to place it among the romantic dramas I've seen. I ...

❤️🎄Hey Everyone!!!🎄❤️
Christmas is just around the corner, and I'm feeling it! Even though I don't celebrate Christmas intensely, I feel the time crunch before the holidays this year, for real! I just got myself a little Grinch tree for my house with lights—it's so adorable! It's truly the one thing that makes my holidays special 😂
Since Christmas falls in the middle of the week, I've decided to pause AFI Friday until the new year (so...

Happy AFI Saturday!
Sunrise (1927), ranked #82 on AFI's list, is seriously impressive for being so old! The actors totally nailed their roles, and whoever was behind the camera really knew what they were doing - they came up with some pretty cool shots that were way ahead of their time. I loved the transitions and the superimposed layered shots. Sure, I had some small issues with how some of the characters' stories played out, but the overall plot still works well. There are so many gre...

Note: I messed up the poll (what else is new? 😆) with two "Body Heat" selections. I'm at work and can't edit the poll from either the app or desktop. It needs to be cancelled and restarted, but I can't do that until 9pm tonight when I get home. Let me know if you want me to restart it, or you can just ignore the second "Body Heat" votes (I won't count them).
I wasn’t going to put it on then ended up putting it twice this all at 12:30am 😆
Let me know down below please ! Or ...

Children of Men (2006) Wow. What a ride. Spoilers down below
*********************************************************
I am completely blown away by this film, especially from a technical perspective. It was brilliant. The story feels grounded in truth and plausibility, crafted with genius to give us everything we need. It hooks us from the first minute (a favourite thing to do). It keeps revealing details masterfully - from character backstory delivered through creative and visua...

#84 on the AFI list Easy Rider (1969)
*******Light Spoilers Below*******
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this film at first, to be honest. It wasn’t the pacing, the breathtaking landscapes, or the introspection—it wasn’t any of that. I just wasn’t sure. Maybe it’s because the film reflects so much of the turmoil and change of the 1960s, and I feel a bit naive about it all.
But as the movie unfolded, things started to sink in. Char...

Wow, what a perfect title for this film. I watched it last night, and it’s still sitting heavy on my mind—in the best way. There’s so much to unpack, but the storytelling through cinematography stood out to me the most. Some favourite shots from a film!
This movie is ART.

Sitting at #85 on the AFI list is A Night at the Opera (1935). We are motoring through this list!
When this movie started, I wasn’t sure where it was headed—but then, MOVIE MAGIC happened✨ I couldn’t help but imagine what it must’ve been like to sit in the theatre in 1935 watching this. What an experience that must have been! It must have been roaring!
It’s such a clever and witty film, packed with smart comedy. I feel like the comedy still works today. Sure, ...
