Female Agent 1.4 general release

Female Agent 1.4 is out!  It's available on the Discord.

This version adds the Lifepath, an absurdly detailed interactive character generator that's been described as "a game within the game" by dev testers. Play through your agent's unique backstory from childhood, through university, to their agency career before being selected for the mission.

Today was the first dev day of the new sprint – but I only managed to get half a day in (I got a bad headache that made it hard to concentrate).  Tomorrow I'll finish the task I started, and get the first sprint report up.

Hey what should I polish

Sunday 17th will be the first polishing day, in which I improve something that's already in the game instead of just always focusing on the next sprint.

Sprint 3 dev poll results

Results are in on two dev polls.  

The first poll asked the usual question: what should we work on next?

359 patrons voted.  The result was 60% favour of the avatar upgrade!  Female Agent 1.5 will deliver the following improvements:

  • Implementing a symmetry fix created in August 2018 by our illustrator Victoria

No updates tonight

Magnificent walrus Hyneman fixed a bug in the relationship tables, in which they were displaying the wrong number of partners.  To celebrate, I wrote some new relationship table partners, and tweaked a few small bits of code...and totally broke everything.  Sorry.

HD avatar tech test

I'm experimenting with a new way to deliver the avatar, which will make it display more crisply on HD screens.  The existing avatar tech suffers from slight blurring, which can make it hard to see fine details like eye colour and makeup.

Idea: polishing days

In the great discussion in my last sprint reflection thread, Enrico said something that sparked an idea.  He said:

Sprint 002 reflection

What did we accomplish?

  • We fixed some critical bugs in the Beta.
  • We improved the look and feel of the relationship tables.
  • We made the university choice more differentiated and meaningful.
  • We added new avatar clothes for the Analyst & Operator sections of the Lifepath.
  • We added the first Detailed Hometowns with unique neighbourhood descriptions and first boyfriends.

1.5 dev poll

Everyone (especially me) wants the game to get to Bangkok as soon as possible.  Before we do that, we need to overhaul 3 systems:

  • The avatar needs an upgrade
  • The random NPC generator needs an upgrade
  • The Sex Engine needs an upgrade

Because the Sex Engine relies on NPCs, I want to upgrade it after we’ve upgraded the NPC generator.  Therefore, the choice is whether to upgrade the avatar or the View Post

UPDATE: 1.4.6 P (bug fixes) uploaded at 0922 on 11 Mar.

I've just tweaked the "hometown" code, and we can now accept requests for which hometowns you'd like to see included.  Post them here or PM them to me on Discord.
